EXPLORE ST. HELENA
Visit Napa Valley a visitor’s guide http://www.visitnapavalley.com describes St. Helena as the heart of the Napa Valley.
Winemaking began here in the 1800s, its history echoing through the gables and turrets of the Rhine House, now home to Beringer, and gracious carriage house of the region’s first winery, Charles Krug. Today, the wineries in St. Helena range from powerhouses such as Sutter Home and Louis Martini to critically acclaimed small producers including Revana Estate and Crocker and Starr.
Just across the valley floor from Vignoble house a massive stone building that was once the Christian Brothers winery is now the Culinary Institute of America offering culinary education classes.
There are several Michelin star restaurants in the Napa Valley including Chef Thomas Keller’s French Laundry and Chef Ken Frank’s La Toque. Chefs including Nash Cognietti at Tre Posti, Christopher Costow at Charter Oak and others create quintessential California cuisine and some other favorites include Brasswood and Press.
